Concept of twin checks guarantees maximum security at the Arena
The staging of tournament matches is the most important task of any World Cup organising committee. Also of central importance is the safety of players and spectators. A concept of twin checks agreed with the police is set to guarantee the requisite level of security at matches played in Germany in 2006.
During the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ an outer and an inner security ring will be set up around the arena. This means that for the duration of the tournament the area between Adenauerallee, Willy-Brandt-Allee and Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse will be accessible only to people in possession of the corresponding accreditation or a match ticket. This is the outer security ring, where spectators attending the five matches will undergo preliminary checks by stewards.
The inner security ring is formed by the actual stadium complex. Checks will be stepped up here to ensure that anything that does not belong inside a football stadium is detected early and confiscated.
