Ticket sales to begin in the first quarter of 2005
Gelsenkirchen will be at the centre of world public attention on the very first day of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. Immediately after the opening match in Munich on 9 June 2006, the second match of the tournament in Group A will kick off at the FIFA World Cup Stadium Gelsenkirchen. It will be followed by more exciting matches in Groups C and E on 12 June, 16 June and 21 June. The highlight of the World Cup in Gelsenkirchen will arrive on Saturday 1 July, when two of the world's eight best teams will meet in the quarter-final. Some 18 months before the opening match, the question concerning football fans all over the world is how to get tickets.
They will need to be patient for a little longer, as tickets are not scheduled to go on sale until the first quarter of 2005. Until such time no orders will be accepted or reservation lists kept. The precise sales procedure also remains unspecified at present.
No teams have been seeded as yet. Not until the draw for the finals has been made in December 2005 will we know which team will play at which stadium and when. This also applies to the German national team. In addition, the definitive kick-off times will not be decided until December 2005. All that is certain at the moment is that two matches at the arena will feature the top seeds in Groups C and D.
Tickets will be available in four categories, with prices starting at €35 (including tax, charges and use of public transport but not including postage) in Category 4 at 47 group stage matches.
