The central point of contact for all World Cup tourists is the World Cup Call Centre run by the council's city marketing arm. The call centre agents have already started work and will be operating at full capacity, arranging accommodation and providing information on the city in the four FIFA languages of English, French, Spanish and German. | Camping Offerings |
|
One offering aimed specifically at young football fans is the youth camp being organised by the city council not far from the arena in the park grounds of Schloss Berge (Berge Castle). Fans under 25 will be able to sleep here for between three and six euros a night, even if they travel to Gelsenkirchen spontaneously and do not have a tent. The camp, which has a capacity of 400, will be supervised by trained staff and offer an entertainment programme. Breakfast will also be available at an extra charge.
Fans of all ages will be able to use the campsites organised by private providers especially for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Some 2,000 will be able to camp in Nordsternpark by the amphitheatre and the Rhine-Herne Canal, while the World Cup campsite next to the lido in Revierpark Nienhausen will cater for around 500 fans. Both sites will cost 20 euros per person per night.
There will also be a dedicated service for caravans and camper vans in Gelsenkirchen. The 'Mobilcamp Gelsenkirchen' in the immediate vicinity of the stadium will offer around 350 spaces for mobile homes.
