World Cup accommodation at fair prices

The city is predicting large numbers of international visitors during the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. Because the approximately 1,900 rooms in hotels and guesthouses are likely to be booked up very early, Gelsenkirchen World Cup City and some private concerns are preparing additional accommodation specifically for World Cup tourists. On special offer is a youth camp where young football fans aged under 25 years can stay over-night for between three and six euros. Even those who turn up without tents can be accommodated here. Qualified visitor support will be provided as well as events programmes and breakfasts can be booked too. The campsite which is close to the Berger Schloss park and the Arena can accommodate up to 400 young people. Space for fans of all ages is available on campsites being offered by private concerns to the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. Around 2,000 fans will be able to camp in the grounds of the Nordstern-park next to the amphitheatre and the Rhein-Herne canal. And approximately 500 football fanatics will be able to book places next to an open-air swimming pool at the World Cup campsite in the Nienhausen Revierpark. Prices for these sites are 20 euros per person per night. Special provision will also be made for caravans and camper-vans in Gelsenkirchen World Cup City. The Gelsenkirchen Mobilcamp in the immediate vicinity of the stadium provides bays for around 350 mobile homes. Whether they are staying in a B&B, a youth camp or a caravan site, there is access to a central helpdesk for all World Cup tourists at the City Marketing Department Call Centre. Call centre staff have already started work and are preparing for a busy time from 9 December onwards. They will be arranging accommodation and giving information about the city in the four FIFA languages, English, French, Spanish and German. <ü> To contact the World Cup Call Centre, please dial +49 209/951970 (from 8 am to 8 pm on workdays and 9 am to 8 pm at weekends).
