Media centre completed - museum work in progress
With just under a month to go to the World Cup in Germany the tournament is increasingly leaving its mark on the stadium complex. The media centre has been constructed on car park P1 during the last fortnight, and work inside the Schalke Museum is also making good progress.
The museum closed its doors after Schalke's Bundesliga match against Bielefeld and work has progressed apace ever since. Six 'presenter studios' are under construction, and the walls are up already. In these studios television presenters and experts will broadcast live before the match, at half-time and after the final whistle. To allow work to go ahead, the glass showcases in front of the windows overlooking the stadium interior were removed. The audio room and the fan room have also been relocated.
Car park P1 has also been a hive of building activity. It now houses the Stadium Media Centre (SMC), where journalists can gather information before matches and use the facilities to do their work.
